Donation for a Charity Diner Project

This pandemic has negatively influenced lots of people worldwide and dramatically changed the lives of many. Even so that putting food on the table has become a real struggle. People lost their jobs, couldn't work for an extended period of time and were left without their primary income source. In Lithuania, 1 of 5 people struggles financially and lives below the poverty threshold. During the pandemic, many people have become economically vulnerable and urgently in need of external social and financial support.

A part of our mission at Not Perfect Linen is giving back and exercising simple acts of kindness as much as possible; thus, we often take part in charity projects for our local community and try to support various causes worldwide. We believe it is essential, especially in times like these, when many people are struggling both financially and mentally.

This time, we decided to take part in a Charity Diner donation project. In addition to providing daily hot meals to the ones in need, this Charity Diner also distributes food packets, other essential non-food items and offers a warm and safe temporary stay. What is more, people can receive a free psychological consultation or speak to a lawyer in case of a family crisis or when facing other problems. This particular diner in Vilnius has been serving food to approximately 500 to 600 people each day. This number has notably increased during the quarantine period. During the pandemic, a large number of people lost their financial stability or even a roof over their heads. Thus, in 2020, the diner was visited by more people than ever before. Due to the increased number of regular visitors, they needed some additional financial support to maintain its operational capacity and continue providing food and other services for those in need.

Having a place to go and have one's essential human needs taken care of is a valuable service that this Charity Diner provides. We believe that now, more than ever, humans need one another to feel valued, taken care of and morally supported. Simple acts of kindness, even a small personal donation for a charity organization, taking care of those in need, can brighten someone's day and spark some hope into one's life. Even in the most challenging circumstances, offering some help can be the most valuable act you can do. It often doesn't require too much effort yet brings rewarding benefits.
