Challenging oppression with expression | Meet Aisha Fukushima

One of the major aspects we love about our work is doing collaborations with other artists and creators worldwide. We are especially happy to collaborate with such inspiring and joyful personalities as Aisha Fukushima (@aishafukushima) – a singer, public speaker, educator and ‘RAPtivist’ (rap activist), gathering crowds and bringing joy with her authentic presence and expression to this world.

We highly appreciate our friendship with Aisha. She is the founder of RAPtivism – a form of artistic expression through rapping combined with social activism and active discussion based on important topics. As a public speaker and singer, Aisha communicates directly to her audiences and talks about a variety of relevant topics on her TED Talks and other events. We believe that expression through various forms of art is probably the truest, purest and most distinctive quality of a human nature. Rap is certainly one sure way to express oneself. We find our brand’s mission similar to Aisha’s – helping our community of beautiful women better express themselves and their uniqueness through their clothing choices.

We have created numerous linen outfits exclusively for Aisha’s TED talks – collaborating with her and becoming part of her shows has been a joyful experience. Every item has been created having the topics she discusses in mind. Aisha’s key message – which she is sharing with the world through her artistic shows and talks – is “Challenging Oppression with Expression Worldwide”. Other relevant topics she passionately discusses about cover the themes of social justice, cultural activism, global citizenship, empowerment, hip-hop, feminism and sisterhood.

Sisterhood is another strong topic Not Perfect Linen brand stands for – we are grateful for our strong, ever-evolving customer base of truly beautiful women (inside and out), which feels like a family, or, even more precisely, a sisterhood. To us, clothes are about the expression of individual beauty, not about being perfect and meeting “the standard”. Our brand and products stand for authenticity, natural expression, uniqueness and feeling comfortable inside your skin.

So far, our belief in individual self-expression has perfectly aligned with our collaborations and has even transcended beyond the fashion world. Standing together and lifting each other’s spirits is what motivates us and keeps us going. Strong, passionate and dedicated women, authentically expressing themselves and doing good for others is our biggest inspiration.
